I was at the local flea market this morning and got these two items. I have no idea what either of them are for and neither did the guys selling them. But for $1 each, I couldn't pass them up. Anyone have any ideas? The longer piece is 9 1/4 inches long and is obviously multifunctional at each end. It almost looks like a handle to remove the grates from an old coal stove, but there's more to it than that. It has the number 2256 stamped on the end of it. And the smaller piece obviously presses something together, but what? Thanks for any help!

Pops, you are only partially correct. I think you may be right about the upper/bottom one being a doodad, but the other is definitely a rollicking rod! Jonima, do you have any other items you want identified?
Not tonight, but I plan on going to the flea market again tomorrow morning.

Thanks, rocker-sd. That was the first thing I thought of, but then it just seemed too industrial and heavy duty for that. But now that I look, I do find some other ones on the www that say they're nutcrackers.
