Here you go, tom61375. I got in the garage today and dug through my bags and found it. Being in a FACP when we were issued these, a lot of us would use heel and sole dressing to black them out so they'd be a little harder to see on our web gear instead of standing out with the light, raw leather color. It is definitely a workhorse of a knife. It has been well used. I guess I should clean it up one of these days now that I have it out again.
Hasn't this been a great week for interesting items? Really nice knife & deserves to be cared for.
I didn't realize until today that it's starting to get rusty. It's been in that bag since 1991 when I left that unit. I'll definitely be cleaning it this weekend.
Make that an order!
Yes, Sir.
Here you go, blunderbuss. All cleaned up and a thin layer of silicon lube applied to prevent future rusting. I also noticed the Ontario stamp on the end of the handle for the first time today.
Much better. I thought saw-backed blades were internationally banned for bayonets & fighting knives? Oh well, Americans only follow the rules when they want to.
That's why they went with "survival" knife. :)
The two AK-47 bayonets I have both have the saw-backed blade too.
Americans a very experienced at word play to get around restrictions or make innocent things sound ominous. I gave up on finding a defense weapon because every one I liked is called an assault weapon. "Agencies" are changed to "Administrations" so it can legislate laws without having to be bothered by the elected legislative body. I'm sure you have examples of your own. Nothing new for governments to side-step legalities but we get in trouble if we try.
Awesome!! Love it!
