Paris Street Scene - Moulin Rouge - Oil Painting.
I bought this 'Moulin Rouge' painting today (£10).
Size of the canvas is 18" x 24" (17.5" x 23.5" visible).
It looks to be more than 50 years old.
It is damaged with a minor dent in the canvas and some flaking paint.
The frame is ornate and very 'old-fashioned looking'.
The painting is not signed by the artist - although the signature might be close to the edge under the edge of the frame.
This Paris street scene is similar to others I have seen online - though I wouldn't like to put a name to it - in case I get it wrong.
If someone knows and can enlighten me, then I would be very grateful for the information.
The painting and frame look drab and dull under poor lighting conditions, but bright and vivid under good light, so I think it needs a clean.
I took these photos under artificial halogen light with 2 different cameras - my old casio camera gives better results under these conditions
than my newish nikon camera - I don't know why - probably the settings I used.
I like the painting very much.
