Showing a green colored Coquille-vase from Flygsfors, designed by Paul Kedelv and manufactured 1955. I have read that the Coquille-glass produced during Kedelvs time in Flygsfors (until 1956) is signed with his name. After he left Flygsfors for Reijmyre in 1956, the Coquille-glass was signed only Coquille and/or Flygsfors, sometimes with production year. I am not too familiar with Flygsfors glassworks so maybe someone can confirm what I have read?

The vase is 24 cm high and 11,5 cm at the widest part on top. What I can se, it's produced in the special Coquille technique, developed by Paul Kedelv himself in Flygsfors. He was working as a glassblower for several years in Orrefors, and was well versed in the craftmanship, before he began to design glass. The technique meens that the glass gets a few coats/layers of color (often with a white border), which is placed on top of a massive ball of clear glass. Then it is formed by freehand, without air blown into the piece. They let the glass run out and fall naturally, and got that way the special forms. Today I know the Coquille technique is going to be forgotten, and therefore the now retired blowers who worked with the technique in the past and are still alive, had to step in and teach today's glassblowers how they did back in the days.

This Kedelv is wonderful!!! I'm so used to see more complicated esigns that this one so simple is really outstanding!

Such a pity these techniques are getting lost!

Thanks Sean and austro! Austro, I reacted as you when I saw the vase. A simple and not so complicated design.
