ATTWOOD

My husband caught this Mako shark in 1979. The process to dry them out is to cut away the muscle or ligament leaving the cartilage. Then sprinkle course salt.Put wooden frame in mouth to stretch open. Then cover with wet newspaper. Then place in dark dry area free from ants.Every few days remove more muscle being careful not to cut into cartilage.
My sister in law does taxidermy.Mainly birds.I have an echidna which was road kill and a fruit bat too.
The birds are easy. You just sprinkle with borax and sit them as you want them displayed. They don't have much flesh. You just replace the eyes.My sister in law doesn't use chemicals
