Unusual mint porcelain reservist’s stein belonging to Reservist Julch who served in the 4th Company, 5th Baden Infantry Regiment (Number 113 attached to the XIV Army Corps) garrisoned in Freiburg am Breisgau from 1909-1911. The lithophane is free of spidering with no damage. It shows a scene of a soldier saying goodbye to his "lady love". The pewter lid is surmounted by a seated reservist holding a flask with a "dangle" below it. The reservist wrist has a Stanhope; unfortunately the micro picture is gone. The lid has no dents or damage with the strap tight to the handle with no movement. The thumb lift is the Baden Griffin. The roster is clear and very readable with 61 names listed. The left scene on this very colorful stein shows the reservists practicing in the field. The lower scene shows them resting after a long day. The central scene is very unusual. The top scene shows the regiment marching on the Prussian flag. The bottom scene is a risqué scene that shows the troops marching next to what appears to be a brothel with the " ladies" showing off their wares for the departing troops. The far right upper scene shows the troops charging the enemy. The lower scene a reservist saying farewell to his madchen. This stein just entered the market for the first time after being in a private collection for many years.
