Imperial German Reservist’s beer stein depicting the Schutenliesel (the “Target Girl”

Imperial German Reservist’s beer stein that belonged to Musketier Lang, who served in the 6th company of the125th Infantry Rgt. (7th Württemberg) "Emperor Frederick, King of Prussia" attached to the XIII (Royal Wurttemberg) Army Corps, and garrisoned in Stuttgart from 1907 to 1909. The elaborate pewter lid has a soldier sitting on the top raising his stein in salute. All of the men who served in this unit during the dates listed are named to the left and to the right of the handle. The scenes on the stein are depicted in full color with soldiers on maneuvers, with two standing soldiers flanking the image of Kaiser Friedrick, with the arms of Wurttemberg and a target below. A rare depiction of the Schutenliesel (the “Target Girl” strolling with a soldier on leave and holding high a brimful stein. There is also a lithophane in the bottom of a soldier and woman. The stein was broken on the base and repaired at some time in the past.
