I inherited these simple yet elegant saltwater pearl earrings from my grandmother. I m not very 'into' pearl jewelry. But I do like these earrings. I like the idea the pearls are not drilled. They were just 'set' into the gold mounting. The pearls are about 8mm diameter and the studs are 18 carat gold. They are marked but its unreadable. The pearls are more white than they look in my pictures.
Its always much harder to put a date on your own stuff than on someone elses. So does anyone of you guys have an idea when these earstuds could be made? They look modern to me...

Hi, round cultured salt water pearls (called Akoya pearls, named after the oyster they are cultured in) did not come on the market until about 1910 and were most popular between the 1940's and 1960's, which is about where i would date these.Pearls are probably from Japan. I love pearls and these are very pretty!
