This is an unused set of dishes that has 23 pieces. The backstamp reads handpainted, made in Japan and has a "M" inside a green wreath. I believe that the golliwog depicted is the little fellow from the original Florence Books. Does anyone else have this set, or know anything about it?

I'm not finding anything on this set. Mark: "M" for Morimura in a wreath, crowned by "NORITAKE" and below, "Hand painted" and "Made in Japan". This mark was registred in 1918 and seems to have come in to used in the early 1920's and it was used until around 1940. You see these Noritake Tea sets go for a wide Range of Prices. 150.00 -200.00 but you have something a little better, you have a cross collectable. This is due to the child, Black Americana is Big these days. I seen a dancing cild set sell for $375.00 retail. But I would go up a little on yours because of the Black Americana collectability, I would say $450.00-$500.00 retail would be a good start. Dave
