A couple of more tie clips I picked up recently. the first one is an IBM Quarter Century Club pin. It is made by Robbins-Attleboro, and is marked 1/20 12KGF ( I assume that means 12 karat gold filled, but I'm not sure what the the 1/20 is. It's 1 3/4 long. The second one is a Swank clip in the shape of a shovel. It's 2 7/8" long. The head of the shovel is silver toned, and the handle is gold toned with a white cross handle. I liked it for the detail. I picked that one up, and then I saw an identical one for 4 times as much at another dealer's case about 10' away. Don't you just love a bargain?
1/20 12K gf means that the tie clip is gold-filled (gf) which means that a thick layer of karat gold is applied to a base metal. The 1/20 is the proportional weight of the gold to the full weight of the broach and the 12k means that it is 12 karat gold.
