This showed up on eB Germany recently .... don't think I have seen this picture before in any of the books so thought it would be of interest ....

Gives an idea of the Scale of operations ... and an idea of the amount of wood that was consumed ... think that is the wood pile in the foreground !!!

Dated 1899 on the postcard ... which would presumably put the date of the picture a little earlier ...

Have not had time to attempt to translate it ... interested in what the message is about if anyone has the time ..
    Thanks

    ps 7-1-14
Here is the translation for anyone wishing to practice their Suetterlin German (with my editing in brackets) ... Thanks to Renate and her friend for her assistance ...

L.W. As my brother writes, he is leaving Sunday for Munic(h) and will be there for a few days. While he is away I think it would be best to methodically clean the passage and the bedroom and air them good (well). They could take (employ) the former house master for the cleaning. Have they snooped (looked) about at all?
At the moment, Sugar plums are very cheap to buy, where as with Cranberries there is still a long time to go.
Anneliese is very well, but she is very naughty. For myself, I am lately not so well, always the terrible nausea.
Please write again soon and best regards.

.... the signature / name was not included ... the nausea is of interest in the context of the minerals & chemicals used in glass manufacture ... ?

      Thanks Vet et al
There is evidently a similar picture in one of the books …
Taken form around 45º to the R of this one … approximately from the North as opposed to North-East in this picture … with the result that it lines up the chimney with the R End of the White building in front (as seen here) …

Other picture (L.com & search "1879") also brings the river in to view as opposed to the road leading up the valley behind as seen here … Das ist gut!

      Hi Phil
… Fairly sure the lack of surviving documentations will take us all to the brink … at some point … !-)
