Hello, my name is Michael Anderson of Santa Rosa CA. I’m not sure if this where I should be, but, back in early 2000 I bought a home in Palmdale California. With that home was a framed print that was left on the wall, the print was a simple chair with a towel draped over the chair, and a flower pot on the seat, but that's not why I'm contacting you. Years later I moved and the framed print ended up in my garage. Recently, I cleaned the garage and noticed the glass of the print was broken. That's when I discovered an old matted black and white photo 13x17, in the photo was a man at a podium addressing a large group of people. There is a caption saying;
"THE INTERNATIONAL POLICE ACADEMY
FIRST GRADUATION
FEBRUARY 28, 1964"
It continues to say;
"On this date the International Police Academy graduated its first class of thirty-four Senior Police Officers from 18 Countries. Honorable Robert F. Kennedy, Attorney General of the United States was the principal Speaker. Joining him on the podium from left to right are Byron Engle, Director, Office of Public Safety, A.I.D., William S. Gaud, Assistant Administrator, Bureau of Near East and South Asia, A.I.D., and Michael G. McCann, Director of Training, Office of Public Safety, A.I.D.
Can you tell me the proper channel to take to find out its authenticity and value?
Thank you
I would check "Kennedy memorabilia" on the internet since that is the most prominent individual in the photo.
Thanks, I emailed the JFK Library and they called me and said they are not allowed to authenticate or appraise, they said to try to find a collector, If anyone has suggestions please email me bigmikee2003@yahoo.com
You posted this some time ago, but I just ran across it. Michael McCann was my father. The photo is likely authentic. I have no idea of the value.
