This painting was by Goray Douglas from Darjeeling. It was purchased around 1963. He was a wonderful artist. We also have another one of his of an old man.

Hello from Taiwan, I saw the photograph of the beautiful Goray Douglas pastel, as well as that of Justanovice (I don't know if they will also see this posting?) and thought you might be interested to know that I am friends with Goray's son, David, who is also an artist and living in Kathmandu. I also have a number of art-works by both David and Goray.
      Regards, Mark

      Hello Mark.
Thanks very much for your response. That is really incredible that you are friends with his Son, such a small world really. I will need to post the other pastel of Goray's that we have, it is equally as nice. I would also Love to see some samples of David's' work as well.
      Regards, Chris

Good evening Chris, yes indeed, a small world. I lived in Nepal for three years before emigrating here, and that is how I got to know David. We became good friends and I organised an exhibition for him.
I also met David's sister, Dolly, a couple of times - she is often quoted in some of the interviews about Goray because she continued to live in Darjeeling, whilst David moved to Kathmandu. Tragically Dolly died a few years ago.
David encouraged me greatly with my own art. At one time he and I started discussing how we could organise a retrospective for his father, but regrettably in the end it didn't happen.
I am new on here but will see if I can work out how to post some photos.
      Goodnight from Taiwan!
      Mark
