1904 Production Number II-1202. I have been looking for one of these for a long time. When they do show up they are seldom identified as Loetz, but other collectors spot them and at the end it is a free-for-all. A nice simple form. Brilliant colors, and aventurine in the green spots. Polished pontil, and internal optic ribs. 4.5" tall. The decor looks a lot nicer in person than in most photos. I can just imagine how several displayed together would look.

Reminds me of cased Tiffany paperweight at 1/5 of the price. Maybe someday Loetz will be recognized in the same way. Gorgeous piece.

As you may remember I have a bowl in this decor. Love it.

The glass seems thick on this one; almost paperweight-like. I agree that it is very reminiscent of Tiffany paperweight vases, especially with the aventurine spots. This is the best example of Medina I have seen thus far, although I suppose it really is a variant (Medina "optic" as you say). Excellent!

The decors list in the Series II book states 36 were made in Medina Optisch for this PN.

Congratulations, Dave - I'm still on the lookout for one of these. I don't know if it's just your photography skills or what, but this is the prettiest example of Medina I think I've ever seen!

I haven't seen another one in person to compare to it, so I couldn't say. I used very bright lights and the subject was in better focus for this shot. Some of the ones I take are not quite as sharp.

Great photos. Hard to take of cased glass and get this kind of result. Fine Piece.

I think this was the vase I sold a couple of years back. My camera had fallen from my car and the lens was damaged. Fortunately I did take a couple of photo's at the point of purchase (flea market) and fortunately the photo's were OK? I think I had confused it with a piece of Prachen glass but realised the difference when I returned home. Why do I always sell my best glass !!! Boo hoo!

Is the correct name Medina optisch? As you can see I'm new to this!

It depends what language you are using. Medina Optic is the English for Medina Optisch, which is the German.
