I was wondering if anyone had an idea the history behind this piece and the year it was made. I bought it at a Estate Sale and want to know more about it.

Looks like a tourist souvenir piece. Are there any markings on the bottom? Any more words on the sides?

At the bottom it only has some numbers and on the sides it has the words Bayern, Schwarz Wald, Schwaben, Buckeburg, Moselland and Schwalm.

The larger, higher quality companies always make sure their stamp/logo is on the bottom. Those words are areas/locations in Germany. Bavaria, Black Forest, etc. Leads me to believe my initial suggestion that it's a souvenir piece. Still nice and useful though.
