Thought I would post these 3 cabinet cards from Hong Kong in 1890s. these were saved by the Captains wife who traveled on this ship for over 10yrs. She wrote diaries ever day which we have, 2 are 1st mates and 1 man from Siberia. This Cdv print i made a 8/10 print from it and it looks now like a real old photo from Hong Knog . I though this Cdv was a drawing

It certainly looks like a drawing & wasn't unheard of to take a photograph of a drawing.
I have on of a elderly gentleman that is in our family collection.

Agree with david-- great photos!
The ship certainly is a drawing or painting. Photographing a drawing/ painting is common in the 19th century. It would be used to create multiple copies-- perhaps many of those on the ship wanted the view.
