I love to sell and collect antiques, occassionaly a co-worker will bring an item in and I can usually give them information and an approximate value on an item. However, my co-worker brought in this beautiful glass rooster and I have not been able to find any thing on it. He told me that when he puchased his home 13 years ago he found it in the attic. The home he and his wife purchased was from an elderly couple in their late 70's early 80's that had passed away. I love this piece - i think its fabulous (even if it dosent have any value). Description of the rooster: 16 inches long, 8 inches tall, and 5 inches wide. It is clear glass with white center and gold flecks through the white. It's a heavy piece, no scale so I can't give you a weight. There are no marking on it. I believe it to be an early piece of Murano. Can anyone give me their input on Maker, Age and Approximate value?
Thank You
MaryAnn
not sure of maker but try researching art glass pheasant
May be more like a stylised pheasant. Nice.
there is this place where you can try and find Your piece https://sites.google.com/site/muranozoo/
I recently bought a similar bird and found it there. Murano glass masters influence one another a lot so there could be very similar items from many makers, so look at details, way the base is made, beak etc.
Thank you for your suggestions. You've been very helpful.

Since you recently purchased an item similar to the one I have can you give me an approximate value on the figurine.
Thank you

Hi GrandmaMimi!
I could give You a number what I bought it for but I don't think it would be a good indication, they are both birds but I don't think Your's is AVeM, best way to determine the value is to look up exact maker and look up in ebay sold items what it sold for.

Thank you again for your time. I checked ebay none of the birds I see are similar.

Have A Great Thanksgiving.
