    (20 items)

These where given to my Father by a friend who had served in Germany.

The large eagle emblem measures 5 1/2" across with 3/8" studs in the back. I was told it was to be mounted on a hat?

    The blue cross is 1 5/8" x 1 3/8". On the back is inscribed "16 Dezember 1938 "

The smallest is 7/8" round , 1" wing , tip to tip. At the top appears to be the letters " N S F K ". On the back it appears to have had a pin of some sort. Also it looks like the numbers "18827"?

Any information about these items would be greatly appreciated by my Father and I.

    Thank you!

** In recognition of the substantial importance a woman’s role and motherhood was in support of a strong German Reich nation, the Cross of Honour of the German Mother was introduced by decree in Berlin on 16 December 1938 by Führer und Reichskanzler (leader and chancellor) Adolf Hitler. The preamble of the statutory decree declared:
As a visible sign of gratitude of the German nation to children-rich mothers I establish this Cross of Honour of the German Mother (Original text in German: ”Als sichtbares Zeichen des Dankes des Deutschen Volkes an kinderreiche Mütter stifte ich das Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter”).
The crosses were awarded annually on the second Sunday in May (Mothering Sunday or Mother's Day), but also extended to include other national annual occasions of celebration. So despite its institution in 1938, the first awards were rendered in May 1939. - ** Sourced from wikipedia

Wow! I'm a AWG & didn't even know it! Do "WE" have an organization, news letter etc.? My family migrated thru the yrs from W. Deutsch, to dutch, to Irish to S. Carolina (U.S.?) in 1777. Do I qualify? Maybe the Irish connection broke the thread?
