    Couldn't pass this up. It appears to be a remote telephone ringer. Wire to the top and when the phone gets called this rings. Loved the wood working craftsmanship of this piece. The bottom has 127F on it.

      This is deep enough where I'm guessing there was a dry-cell batt. inside.

      No battery. The current rings the bell. It must be wired to a working phone.

      There must be a coil still in it, as it looks like the clapper is still there.

      Looks like a Western Electric oak extension ringer box.
