This is one more of my sterling silver Bond Boyd pins. The photo doesn't do it any justice: It's a lot more beautiful in reality.
The pin is gold washed or plated and has some black enamel accents in the center of the ribbon that forms the bow. It is rather large (about 2 and 1/2 inches) and will look great on any sweater during the holiday season.
I just started recently to collect Bond Boyd jewelry, and I am not an expert but I can see some of the "trademarks" of this company that helps me spot a piece when I see it. So even though this pin is very different from the other ones I have posted, I recognized it right away as a Bond Boyd piece based on some of the finishing.
I have searched the Internet for an example like this but haven't found any so far. This makes me believe that this pin is one of the rarer Bond Boyd creations - but, of course, I could be wrong.
Thanks for looking:)
Thanks a lot, petey:)
Thanks, aghcollect:)
I will now watch for Bond Boyd!!
Thanks for your comment, toracat. Bond Boyd is very often overlooked because their mark is very small and hard to see. Many of their items are rhodium plated and appear like costume jewelry - but they are sterling. I have found many of the pieces I own for 50 cents - $1; but they are getting a bit harder to find. I don't like Bond Boyd's newer items but I love the ones from the 40 - 70's. Have fun hunting for Bond Boyd!
