i think this case was used by germans in the military but s thats a quess .....you see where the black spray paint is ...it's hard to read underneath this is what i got ......puizii pecharsky us 51 516 746 hq co 87 nf what does all this mean ..and what is the make of the case is it hi-hat toll a way ...is it a Chicago ...there is a Chicago sticker that reads roller skating a barrel o fun mountainaire roller rink baumholder germany

This looks like a civilian suitcase that was used by a US soldier stationed in Germany during the Cold War.
That sort of serial number and range 51 516 746 was used between 1948 and 1967. The “51” part would indicate Mr. Pecharsky was inducted into the army in one of these states: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Vermont. I don’t think you have his first name right, and I don’t know how to find out more from just the serial number alone. Perhaps Scottvez can help identify your soldier based on serial number. The rest is an abbreviation for Headquarters Company, 87th Infantry. The 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry was stationed in Baumholder during the Cold War.

Thanks tube amp. I was focused on the markings under the black paint. The civilian case (or roller skating) I know nothing about. I find this piece interesting because it is such a personal item of a soldier. Often it's the non-issue stuff that reminds us that these things belonged to a person, not just a soldier.
I haven't learned anything more about Phil though.
