I thought I would show these four close-up photos of art glass vases in my collection. To me these photos almost look like modern "paintings" or, in two cases, cell slides as seen through a microscope. I thought that instead of seeing a vase, first seeing the close-up might add to one's appreciation of the skill that went into its creation. Do you know the maker, technique or decor for any/all of these?

I'll say the 2nd picture should be ... an Orrefors Geometric Ariel Vase by Ingeborg Lundin

My next guess is that picture #3 is a piece of Hobbs Hobnail (cranberry opalescent).

As for picture #1, I'll go with Loetz (Ausführung C ?)
    4. twentiethc, 11 years ago
For picture #4, I'd say Loetz Schaum glass

      Correct on 1 2, and 4.
As to number 3, I have had that piece for about five years, bought it as Hobbs, always thought it was Hobbs until about 18 months ago when I was supplying a few photos to someone writing a book on glass. She told me it is actually Phoenix Art Glass (page 28 of the book by the same name).

      Almost got 'em all :)

The color separation on those hobnails is about as crisp as I have ever seen. Very beautiful!

      twentiethc,
I live in a small town (population 4,000) in Ohio. We do have an antique shop in town that deals mostly in Victorian/ farm style furniture - but the owner for 30 years sometimes lets go of something from her personal collection, as was the case here. She had a pair - kept one, sold one. We all thought it was Hobbs.
