These are two dishes from the TST (Taylor, Smith, Taylor) Reveille Rooster Pattern made in the 1960's. The first picture is the 9" oval vegetable dish and the second is the 11" oval serving platter. This pattern was made with either a gold trim or a red trim. These are the red trim. TST also made at least two other rooster patterns, one being very similar to this but with a different rooster design, and the other with a totally different rooster with totally different colors and a white base color. Taylor Smith & Taylor originally began as Taylor Lee & Smith Co. around 1900. Around 1901 Joseph Lee left the company and the name changed to Taylor Smith and Taylor. Brothers Homer and William Taylor were already familiar with the pottery industry well before Taylor Smith & Taylor. The brothers were born to John N. Taylor who was a partner in Knowles Taylor & Knowles Co. At that time the Taylor Knowles & Taylor Co. was the world’s largest pottery company. The Company operated out of West Virginia until 1981 when the factory closed its doors. The TST mark was discontinued in 1973 when Anchor Hocking bought the company.
