The pendulum rod should hang on a suspension spring. I believe it should have a pin assembly on the bottom of the spring on which the pendulum rod hook usually hangs. Only the crutch, which "powers" the pendulum's swing should go to the escapement. Does that make sense? Can you provide an un-obscured close-up of the area in question?

You might be right but ....if you read my answer all the way you can find that...releasing two screws by upper side of plate you can remove escapement parts.
This is only useful if clock machinery is same type.
