another one i don't know but i like the design and quality of it
is this an art deco piece?
the shape reminds me of some of the lötz tango vases
but I'm not sure at all...
any clues who did this one?
hi there,
faster than lightning mr. czechman
thanks a lot for your help
very nice piece! would You still consider it tango? I suppose if it was not of that age and made by Loetz in shape of their other tango pieces You would not say it's tango, but then it is... so is its context enough to label it tango?
i did a little search....
this vase is supposed to be by michael powolny and has been exhibited first by loetz at the >deutscher werkbund ausstellung< exhibition in cologne, germany in 1914
it's the "saphir glatt" pattern as far as i found
Literature:
- exh. cat. lötz, dusseldorf munich 1989, book 1, page. 280, no. 340 and book 2, page 226, series III, prod. no. 279;
- elisabeth frottier, michael powolny, monographie und werkverzeichnis, vienna and cologne 1990, WV 377 (colorvariation);
- helmut ricke, lötz, böhmisches glas 1880 bis 1940, ostfildern-ruit 2003, page 230;
loetz, may be from a design of Powolny but a later production. in my opinion still tango
