I bought this sign on eBay, the lady had advertised it as 1950's or a vintage coca cola tin sign. She tells me she has had it for the last 25 years and that its an original. I myself am in two minds. So mayor coca cola collectors can you tell me if this sign is a real or a fake and what reasons can you tell me it is?
I paid $202.67 or their abouts for this sign, thinking that it might be a good investment....what do you think?..!!?

Right, so it's a made up sign. There never was an old, authentic version. Your sign has no trademark detail printed in or around the logo, no printed maker's info, it's not documented as old and authentic in the collector's books. Any one of these observations by itself doesn't make a deal-breaker. But taken in totality, you should exercise the seller's return policy or file a case through PayPal Buyer's Protection. If you didn't use PayPal, open a case through eBay (PayPal is the better option based on my vast experience returning items and canceling deals... don't ask! ;0). This type of sign is all over eBay, but usually sold honestly with prices befitting a decorator piece. We've all been burned at one time or another, so just chalk it up to the learning curve. Good luck with your Coca-Cola collecting endeavor. Best advice I ever received was to buy a copy of Petretti's 12th Edition Coca-Cola Collectibles Guide.

Also earlycoke.com is an excellent reference and offers a killer Price Guide, which is actually my first go-to when checking authenticity.
