The cucokoo clock was purchase when my grandmother was in Germany from 1894-1896. I'm open to finding out whatever information is available. It needs another ivory minute hand and that might be hard to find. Also, I have no idea on value. I haven't seen others like it.
What are the measurements? Dave
Also open the back and see if there is a name on the back of clock works, sometimes its stamped. Thanks, Dave
Dave, I never thought to see what might be stamped on the works--Thank you.
I can't check it right now because everything is in storage. But, I believe it fit in a 42-inch box. I took all my pictures the first of this year when everything was still in their original positions.
I had a similar clock sell at auction last year for $375, it was in 100% working condition.
Beautiful clock! Try http://www.antiqueclockprices.com Good luck!
Oh, btw...it looks like a Blackforest clock which were mostly made in Germany.
Blackforest yep Thats what I say too looks in great cond does it worg still.Take pic with bird out If bird.
No doubt Blackforest, but attach a maker to that and it can be worth a lot more. I haven't heard back if she found a name stamped on the back of works. Dave
Tamia, thank you for your kind words, and it did come from Germany.
Dizzydave and Toyman, the clock works fine. I need to find an ivory minute hand. At this time, I can't look for a stamp or take a picture with the bird out because the clock is in storage. It might take me a while. You've given some good pointers and a good start for researching. Thank you.
Yardsaledave, the clock that was sold at auction, do you know anything else about it--size, manufacture, date?
Does anyone know where I can find an ivory minute hand?
THEY SELL IVORY PIANO KEYS ON EBAY, MAYBE PICK SOME UP AND HAVE IT MADE BY CLOCK SMITH
Look on ebay for a clock on ebay with similar hand that you need .A parts clock .Then just re sell parts clock after you get what you need.
Peekaboo and Toyman, your suggestions are certainly appreciated. Both are ways I'd never thought about. Thanks.
