Jean Beck München
handpainted art deco glass
vase circa 1925
measures 3.15" / 8cm tall and comes whithout any damages
an interesting and rare to find german art deco vase designed by one of the leading german designers at the time.
Jean Beck (1862-1938) started working as a designer whith an age of 17 for villeroy and boch. the french "manufacture nationale de sevres offered him to work as the art director there but he didn't wanted to leave munich. the same happened when Meissen offered him a job.
as far as I know this vase should have been manufactured by "von Poschinger" in Frauenau. Poschinger has a very long tradition in glass making they opened their first glasswork in 1568. that means more than 450 years of glassmaking.
the base glass is red which has been cased to clear. The design on the glass resembles oak leaves which has been painted by Franz Scholze who had his workshop near jean beck's workshop in munich The clear finish is slightly iridescent.
The vase is certainly acid stamped on the bottom "Jean Beck München".
love these, so precise and the stencil oak leaf pattern is great
