      Brass knob on leg. From either side. Very easy. Just pull on one or other knob.

      Thanks so much. So I'm guessing mine is before march 6, 1951. Since it says "pat pending"? Now where can i take to get appraisal?

      It was filed 12 Jan 1950, so it wouldn't be built prior to that & have the patent pending on it.
      I have no idea on appraisals.

      I got mine at an auction been wondering what it was worth but at least I kind of know now what I have could not find it on the net is this a Duncan phyfe
