    as far as i know this is supposed to be british (irish), or at least produced for the british market
    a (georgian?) cut glass tea caddy, with oval body, cut all over the body
    the mahagony chest where it once has been in (together with a bowl?? is missing.
    took me a little time to find out it's not for alcoholics...

      quite sure it's georgian....
      if you search for cut georgian tea caddy you will find similar caddys...

      I totally agree, it's a tea caddy circa 1820s. The use of step cutting like this really only lasted a short period so we can be quite tight on the date I have given. It might be Irish but there is nothing that really picks it out as such. Very nice, quite rare, but not the most valuable. I have something similar but mine is cylinder shaped.
