I'm trying to get some information on this phone. I know it's an old 'picture frame' wooden 'coffin' phone, that opens from the left to right, and the words "Williams" and "Leich Electric Genoa ILL. USA". Does this mean that there have been replacement parts used? Thanks in advance for any information!
Ah, a mystery to solve. I'm not familiar with those names. There are people here who seriously collect old phones & I'm curious as to what we find out.
get on one of ttoms post and ask him he is the master on phones
Thank you for responding blunderbuss & vanskyock :) I will try to reach ttom then! :)
You have a 1904 Williams Telephone & Supply Company wall telephone. The company was founded in 1895 by Joseph A Williams in Cleveland, OH. The company was then called Williams-Abbott Electric Co. By 1897 Williams sold his interest in the company and formed the Williams Electric Company, which in turn(1903) became the Williams Telephone & Supply Co. The original Williams Electric transmitter on your phone has been replaced.
Told you! I've never heard of Williams Tele. & Supply, Tom. Some obscure yankee firm?
WoW! haha yes...thank you ALL for the responses! and Holy Cow....ttom! You sure know your stuff! Thank you SO much for the very informative post!
Angelise, don't forget to drop a tip in Tom's jar!

You only wish! Never ceases to amaze me at the things that our people, ugh, ugh, --- "collect", for lack of better words. LOL Welcome to the motley crew. Of course I not one of them!
