anton lang (1875-1938) lived and worked in oberammergau, he was famous as a potter and even more famous as the actor who played christ in the oberammergau passion play in 1900, 1910 and 1922.
lang visited the USA 1923-4 and and it is told that he threw pots at rookwood pottery. lang appeared on the cover of the times magazine in december 1923
but not every vase marked anton lang was thrown by himself.
after anton lang died his son karl lang (1903 – 1990) carried forward with the anton lang workshop.
in 1975 after karl lang retired his daughter barbara lampe took over the workshop together with her husband ulli lampe.
she renamed it in 1995 to barbara lampe töpferei.
