This is a rare find. I purchased this bike from a gentlemen who bought the bike from the original owner. Her intent was to use this bike to deliver newspapers. The second owner rode the bike a couple of times so this bike has very little use. This bike is 100% original with very minor scratches, so basically this bike looks exactly as purchased back in 1964. It has the original Schwinn Typhoon 26x2.125 nylon tires in mint condition with no cracks. The Wasp was made only from 1954-1964. The color is "Flamboyant Red" and just gleams in the sun. I basically polished the bike as it arrived to me in great condition. Not bad for a 53 year old bike, I was fortunate enough to make this find and add it to my collection.

Beautiful bike, I love the two section basket on the back.
I have his and hers 3-wheel Schwinn's with a huge black metal basket on the back. I also put a vintage wicker basket on the front.

Hi, I'm writing a blog about delivering newspapers by bicycle in the '60s and I'd love to use one of your photos in the blog. Would it be okay to use one of your photos? I was hoping I could use the second from the left. Thanks! - Vin

      Vindog,
If I could get an honorable mention or recognition on your site (like Kevin Schiff from San Diego, California) and perhaps a link to your blog, then I would not have a problem with you using the picture that you are inquiring about. I appreciate you asking my permission, that means alot.
      Thanks!

I had the very same bike. I won mine selling the most tickets for a Rotary Club Carnival. I treasured that bike because I lived in rural Vermont where houses were far apart and I was the only newspaper buy in town. I had to have front and saddlebag baskets. Up at 4 AM every morning six days a week. Fold the papers get them delivered and be done before school started. Papers were ten cents at the stand in a store but home delivery was 45 cents a week.

Hi Kevin, Thank you for allowing me to use the pic of that beautiful Flamboyant Red Schwinn! It was perfect for the blog! Here's the link: https://www.barstoolsports.com/blog/2372198/a-story-for-the-common-man-the-paperboy-delivers
