My mother visited the Ivory Coast a few months ago. She brought home some bracelets with handmade african glass beads. The bracelets were a bit tiny for me, they were more like child bracelets so I made them into a necklace I can wear. You can still see the beads are not straight, but I think that adds to the charm. I love the craftmanship you can see in these kind of beads. I m sure its nothing special and it isnt old but I thought it was worth it to show you guys.
I bought the second necklace secondhand a few years ago. This necklace is a mixture with glass and stone beads (carnelian). I had to put a clasp on it, because it didn't have any. I have no idea about the age of this one.

I enlarged your photo to see the details of the beads. Each and every one is different and a little piece of art. I love everything that is not mass-produced, especially if it is creative. I can imagine the necklace looking fantastic on a plane sweater!

I bought African beads in 1972 after crossing Sahara! But gave all away for presents! We called them Tan Tan or Gulamine beads after two desert towns in Mor.
