This watercolor has been in my family for at least 60 years . The size is 40in by 30in (less frame) Any ideas as to value or artist would be most helpfull.
We lived in Cleveland when I was young but folks may have purchased elsewhere (Philadelphia) Last pic shows slight damage from glass being broken . Scratched not perforated . Thanks , Jack

sounds like a local artist, but "local" to where is the question. I've searched online but didn't find much (just many other artists by the same name). I'd ask someone who owns a large gallery in this type of art or auction house who could appraise it, about the artist.

Thanks Dave for the solid info , very helpful, Jack

Brian did you see my link showing paintings by the same person? I doubt if the artist was local to Jack. This is most likely a Tourist piece or a decorative Painting sold during the mid 20th century (30's-40's). If artist were Listed or Worthy of a Gallery or Auction you would not have any problems in finding information about the artist. No records of Suzette Oriental Paintings beeing sold at Auction and no Gallery Listings for this Arist. Dave

Hi dizzy, yes I saw your link great find. just adding my 2c. What you said about the gallery makes sense... As for my 'local' comment sorry for the confusion, I didn't mean local to the owner per se. I was trying to express the same thing as you said, that tourists likely bought this somewhere ie on vacation. Could help to better recognize who the artist was. But where? Could be some corner of Hawaii maybe. Reminds me of some things I've seen over there, and the artist's name is Anglo so less likely it was overseas. Owner should ask his family to see if any know where it was bought.

do you have photo of where the painting is signed? I have one simular, my grandmother was given the painting when she was young.
    8. daniel, 14 years ago
OK my bad, just saw the photo of her signiture, i also have one of her paintings, imy email is danielmarkwhite@gmail.com.
my grandmother received it from some old lady when she was young, i believe that these painting are part of a single set, nobody has the same picture.

Probably mid century, style is similar to Bernard/Turner, same for subject matter. Very pretty.

I just acquired 2 paintings by Suzette. They were from my grandmothers estate sale, however this is the first time I've seen them. Probably from the 30's-40's. My grandfather was in the air force from 1942-46, so maybe from his travels?

I have 2 of these. Are they worth an appraisal.

Hi everyone, I have a Suzette too. I put it in as my profile pix. It is framed in red glass. The size without the red glass frame is 29x26. I am from Niagara Falls, a town based on tourism. My Mom had a friend who owned a Souvenir shop back in the 50's. I truly believe that is where mine came from.

I have a Suzette as well with the same frame as the one in the link that dizzydave had posted. Similar story to everyone else, it has been in the family for over 60 years. My grandparents got it back in the late to mid 40's in the Midwest ( I believe from seeing family pictures from this date on with the picture in the background) can't find the same picture just the few I have found like it with the same artist name. I would love to find out more information about this painting .

I have recently purchased a Suzette painting 42x37, in a large window box frame. I would like to know how to have this authenticated. I was going to remove the painting to use the frame. Now I am not sure that is such a good idea. If anyone has any information on this artist please let me know.
