I am collecting and looking to verify information about Texaco Big Friends —-> A close friend of mine has a large private collection of Petroliana and Automotive signs and has passed a number of items onto me. One of the peices that I am looking for more info on is this head from a Texaco Big Friendly statue.
I know that they were made by International Fiberglass and Texaco commissioned 300 statues to be built with plans of making a total of around 3,000 in the mid 1960's. Then, due to a lawsuit, the 300 that were produced were ordered to be destroyed... Only a few were known to survive at that time and currently I can only verify the existence of one surviving statue.
Please email me ducatisti900@gmail.com with any questions or to discuss this piece in further detail.
