This radio was found in an old house that was being gutted and being tore down. The man who lived there had recently passed and was a long time collector and what some call a hoarder. His family gave this radio to one of the men who was assisting in gathering items for the auction that was soon to follow. This man was a friend of my fathers in which I became involved with the radio.
Not having any prior knowledge of crosley radios I was no help in the value or history of this radio. I do know that it is a 1932 Crosley Cathedral Style Radio in original condition. When plugged in the light still works but only static comes through. If anyone knows anything about this radio it would be greatly appreciated.

Please don't plug it in anymore. It could burn up some of the tubes. The capacitors on sets this old, and original, are made of paper and wax. As they heat up, the wax melts and changes the capacitance causing some of them to short out. It also has electrolytic capacitors that I'm sure have leaked their electrolyte. If you can look under the chassis you may see spots of the wax and electrolyte on the bottom. Have someone who knows about these guys to go over it and fix it for you.
It's a beautiful set that doesn't look TOO bad for restoration! Good Luck!
