Trying to find any info on this old strong box. It's approx. (20" wide x 14" tall x 15" deep). It has what I believe to be a "Bramah" lock on it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gene C.

Really nice find that. Going to restore or leave as is? Number of people here who can tell you what you want to know.

This was part of my Dad's estate, it was found in the 70's while metal detecting in a dried up river in NJ. He sandblasted it at the time and it has sat in his garage since, now has surface rust. We will try to sell it as soon as we find out what we have here. Thanks

Was there anything in it when found? I'm going to guess, before automobile era. Reason is that about that time, I start seeing personal safes that can't be carried by horse. Friends have told me that I shouldn't try to reason out things, but old habits die hard.

No, nothing was in it when found. Take notice the right side shackle is missing, it might have been broken into and then dumped.

I noticed that but figured the lid would have to be bent if broken into. I like the locking bolts mechanism. It only bolts on the front & one side. The hinges would be the weak point if you knew how the mechanism worked. It wasn't forced on the side with the missing shackle as it's not damaged that way. Nice piece.
