I just got this vintage enamel tiffin (or sometimes tiffin carrier) from someone today. Her mother had passed away and she was clearing out all the stuff and was going to do a major renovation of the flat. She wasn't a vintage lover but wanted to make sure the vintage treasures went to someone who appreciated them. So lucky me! This is a 3 tier tiffin used commonly in Asia (not just India even though it seems to be very common there) in the past. They were able to keep food warm for a couple of hours. The 4 tier aluminium tiffin with wooden handle was posted by me earlier with some other aluminium kitchenalia. I think it is older than the enamel one judging from the wooden handle.

I got a couple more items from her which I will post later as they need to be transported by a moving man. I am really happy with my treasures today!

They're fantastic items, they would come in very handy on camping or even road trips.

Hi Aimathena, thanks for the love and the comment. They would be! Over here, they have catered tiffin dinners where you sign up for say a month and they deliver, a tiffin full of dishes every night. Good for working couples :)

That's a fantastic idea, I wish I could build clientele like that for my food truck.

I love these.... I have one that I will post... But mine is not old... I bought it from Isetan before leaving Singapore. But it's very cool and I get a lot of compliments when I use it for picnics...

Aimathena, now you have a new food delivery program you can market!
DrFluffy, they are cool - I use a modern stainless steel one-tier only one when I go get takeaways from the food centre!
aghcollect, walksoftly, mike, DrFluffy thank you all for the love and appreciation. Have a great week ahead and Happy New Year!

Very nice, and a flash from the past. In 1979-80, I was stationed in South Korea, and these were used by almost everyone daily. They had small ones for lunch boxes for kids, and most people had several in their homes of various sizes. A great item for that country, because most of their food is fresh and seasoned, and served at room temps. I went back in 1988 for the Olympics, and remember my cousin asking me why everyone had these. I said it's their version of brown bagging.
