Unidentified White Bird Wood Art "Decoration"

I found this piece about a year ago, and have been trying to figure out what it is ever since without luck. While some friends think it's simply a doorstop, I keep thinking it's actually designed for possibly flattening material / cloth. I say this because of the way the neck of the bird seems to be designed specifically for holding the piece (like a wood plane), and the bottom of the piece has been sanded/polished to be extremely smooth. It's definitely a hand crafted piece, and I bought it because it was so unusual and beautiful! It's also interesting to note that the flat base of the piece is almost exactly 12 inches long. The bottom of the piece along its sides also show signs of wear as if it were used to "iron" material, along with the front side of the bird's neck (from holding it). Has anyone seen anything like this before, or have an idea of what search criteria I could use to see if I can find similar pieces? Appreciate any help... spread the love!
