This oversized cabinet card is part of a series of stereotyped/ racist images that were produced by Russell Brothers of Anniston Alabama, in the 1890s.
This particular image shows a man in rag cloths, who has size 17 feet and therefore wears rags on his feet as "shoes".
These early Black Americana images are highly collectible.
Reproduction of these images is prohibited.

Thanks for sharing such a poignant picture. It shows it all from the poor mans cotton 'shoes' to the 'palace' in the background. Its a wonderful photo.
