Stillwater

One of the family heirlooms that I remember seeing this in my hosue growing up. Not sure if we ever figured who made it though, but I'd sure like to know. Look familiar to anyone? (Its very dusty from sitting in a cabinet for decades)
This one and the human skull centerpiece remind me of Roman's
Hi Stillwater I have seen one much like her ,she is stunning and the ones I see sell high . She has the face of a mannequin figure . Does she sit on her own is base flat ?
I have also seen her style reproduced but yours is original. Very 1940's look.
I have mannequins with that knotted looking hair of twisted thread . How tall is she ? I am lovin' her !
Oh she appears USA made also :-)
Thanks Manikin, she stands 5" high and she does have a flat base. There is an old sticker on the inside but it doesn't say anything, its one of those rectangular red-line things. I really love her too, I've admired her since I was very young. It blows me away to think how long it would take to make the hair. Each piece is perfectly identical and was applied by hand. I really hope I get to inherit it! You think its American huh? I used to think it had a European vibe but I have no clue at all.
Thanks for your time and love Manikin, and also for your information. I hope you have a great new year!
I will try and locate her Stillwater . Her face is factory so not homemade . The eyes are done like mannequin eyes . The style is a USA look . I will put a link of one of mine and look at face and eyes and hair . Your's being porcelain makes me think she was made for a display figure . Is she hollow at base? Happy New year to you also :-)

Goldscheider has made porcelains in three places. The family left Vienna in 1938 and started factories in England and in Trenton, New Jersey. The New Jersey factory started in 1940 as Goldscheider-U.S.A. In 1941 it became Goldscheider-Everlast Corporation. From 1947 to 1953 it was Goldcrest Ceramics Corporation. In 1950 the Vienna plant was returned to Mr. Goldscheider and the company continues in business. The Trenton, New Jersey, business, now called Goldscheider of Vienna, imports all of the pieces. Goldscheider marked its earlier pieces with eagle wings and has since moved on to an anchor mark.
I think because your's is not marked we can attribute it to Goldscheider but he always signed his pieces . Very desirable and price was high due to so much breakage of hair during the firing . Amazing piece . I see they did have a factory in Jersey but Austria influenced (The New Jersey factory started in 1940 as Goldscheider-U.S.A.)
Would love to see a photo of the base. It is a real stunner.
Wow Manikin, thanks for taking the time to write all of that
You really think its Goldscheider? The paint/glaze seems to be slightly different, like the eyebrows and lips were painted with a fine brush or something. I don't know though, I'm not an expert in Goldscheider
Thanks again for taking the time to do all of that searching, that was very nice of you
Happy new year!
reply to "You really think its Goldscheider" I would say I would attribute it to them but it maybe a copy cat of their work . In the area of mannequins we often have to say attributed to a certain maker because most are unmarked but when you look at style of work we are saying it is like the work of someone but can not confirm it . It could have been made by one of his employee's that went to work for another company also . I need to see base also I am wondering if your piece is glazed terra cotta ?
I added a photo of the bottom, sorry its a little blurry. I believe it is terra cotta
Very nice Stillwater.
