    i keep this for a long time ago and was surprised by this piece by the letter S years 1943
    I have no idea what it is and I do not know the true value.

      If your nickel was uncirculated it would be worth something, but by looking at the pictures it is wore out. Go to google and it will give the info you need.

      It is a silver wartime nickel. They switched to a higher silver content from 1942-45 because they needed the nickel for the war effort. S stands for the San Francisco mint. In that condition it would be worth between 50 cents and $1.
