I was very lucky to find this Kralik floriform vase up for auction in England. It arrived a few days ago, and I just love it. It is a beautiful form (6.5" tall), and the iridescence is very good - almost oil spot-like on the main body of the flower. It is much more subtle than the other Kralik floriform I have - while that one is bright in the daylight and glows brilliantly under black light, this vase is not UV reactive and has a lovely quiet elegance about it.
After a bit of work, I was able to remove all the old gritty dirt at the very end of the interior of the vase - every floriform or thorn vase I have found has some of this stuff inside...it doesn't seem like regular build up from dust, so I wonder if people used to put bits of plants, ferns with roots, or other potentially muddy things in the vases, rather than just freshly cut flowers? It would be great to see a period photo showing how they used them! :)
Kralik Flowers are addictive
Thanks, Oz - they are! You have some beauties, too! :)
WONDERFUL!!.....:-)
Thanks Gary! I was going to ask you if you were ever able to get the pin out! I am glad you did. My pink thorn vase had a ton of grit in it, and while I was able to get a lot out, there is still a bit stuck way up in the thinnest part of the vase where it crosses over to the body. I'll have to work on it again when I have the time. I keep thinking - what did they stick in there, plants they dug up in the forest, with roots and dirt attached?? :)
Thanks, inky! Happy new year to you! :)
Michelle, I was the under bidder. Happy you for this vase. Great score xo
Lee, thank you - it was one I am very happy to have. :)
Gary, you really have some beautiful floriforms. Looking at the pictures of yours was one of the things that really got me into them!
Awesome Example again! :)
Shawn, thank you! :)
