I love my family of 3 coffee tables- actually 2 are small side tables and the large one is a regular sized coffee table. They have pencil legs which are common in the 60s here in Singapore and Malaysia and are made of solid wood (possibly teak). The tops are covered with a wood grain formica.
I was at a seller's home and she was getting rid of all their vintage furniture so that they could do a major renovation of their home and the tables were actually not the things I was there to look at. In fact, after we negotiated the price of a vintage wardrobe, my eagle eyes saw a bit of an interesting shape with lovely legs, with lots of newspapers covering most of it. So I asked the seller and she said, yes in fact we have 3 of them, would you like to see them? And I got the 3 of them for a very reasonable price. I love the organic shape of the table tops and the slim, pencil legs.
The last pic shows the large (mummy) table on top of a vintage closet because I have run out of space!
I really like the chairs and pillows as well.
Thanks for the love, Aimathena. I think I have posted the teak armchairs before. They were my mum's from the 60s, they were grotty (the arms looked whitish - human skin and oil remains as I later found out) and the cushions were saggy and awful. Nobody wanted them or even to sit on them. So because I saw their potential and snagged them :)
you're most welcome bobogal. That makes them so much more of a treasure, that you saw their true potential when no one else cared to. great job with them.
Thanks for the love, Manikin, DrFluffy, mike and valentino- the chair fabric is not vintage but we did deliberately pick those which looked a bit vintage. They are actually from Ikea!! Ikea has quite a good fabric selection, we went and got 2 more different fabrics to make another pair of cushions so we can interchange.
george, thank you for the appreciation!
sean, thanks for loving my little tables.
