    What is this? measures 10-1/2" long, looks like a mallet at first glance but has cups on each side, stamped with a B and looks like a B also stamped on the wood handle. cups measures 2" to outside and heavy, weighs 2-1/2LBS! Not sure what it is or what it was used for?

      It's missing the inserts, the inserts might have been rawhide, copper,brass or hardwood.
      It may have come with a combination of different materials that you changed depending on the project you were working on.

      YSD, they also might have been rubber but I think you're on the right track, the trouble is that there are no threads to hold the inserts in..... I suspect this may have been a special jig-tool for some project or another. Just a theroy..........
