First is a tap handle plugging Bartels Beer, of Edwardsville, PA. Sadly, Bartels was one of the smaller, local breweries which could not compete with the majors.

Next is a Ballantine Ale Glass. This ale got its distinctive taste from being aged in maple tanks. No longer brewed in Newark, its home is now in the Midwest. They also produced Ballantine Beer, and Ballantine India Pale Ale, both being excellent brews, but unfortunately they exist now only in beer heaven and in our memories.

Thank you, aghcollect and walksoftly..Bartels Brewery was located a stone's throw from my home. In it's earlier days, it had a Rathskeller, and a Biergarten.

Ballantine was big in the East….but the majors crushed them, too…..
