Brrr!! I could really go for a cup of hot tea with milk and sugar right about now. it's only 8° outside right now, and my home heating system in not working... *again*. Luckily, I like sleeping in the cold.
The Hubster says I must be a vampire, because I like it so cold *&* dark when I sleep. Oh well, it sure is good snuggling weather. :-P

LOL - I grew up in the snow belt of Northern Indiana so anything over freezing is swimming weather. - It's funny down here though because the locals break out their parkas when it goes below 70

LoL!!! I know right. That kind of stuff was always so funny to see. I had a vacation rental in between New Port Richey and Tarpon Springs. I miss being there so much, but not that 16 hour drive

Very nice pieces Aim ... and since we're all discussing weather....Here in Ohio on the Erie shores we just had a 2 day storm that gave us about a foot of snow total. The weekend is going to be a spring like 35 degrees. Then Sunday night rain to snow and Tuesday -2 (daytime !) the coldest temps in 20 years, I HATE WINTER !!
    9. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
      Thanks Mike.
it sounds like you need to move to Florida, and be Agh's neighbor :-)

I love your collection! I have a soft spot for porcelain, mainly German and English.
We had -20 degrees Celsius here the day before yesterday. I think it was warmer in my freezer:)

You are very welcome. I am so jealous of the warm weather! I am a summer person; I have no idea what made me settle in Canada:(

It's 18° here this morning, it's better than 8° but of course I'd rather have it at 80° :-) You know... it's never too late to move to a nice warm climate ;-)

Whoa Gargo, that's mad crazy. 17° here right now, feels like 6° and dropping. Its suppose to be "-" by morning. I am NOT looking forward to taking my aready sick child out in that. Hopefully you and your loved ones can stay inside where it's warm.
    19. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
      Dang, it's already dropped to 13° o.O
    20. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
Wow is it dropping fast! We're down to 8° now.
I always worry about the homeless, and they're all I can think about tonight with these very low temperatures. I even worry over those who aren't homeless, but just don't have heat in their home for whatever the reasons may be. I don't attend church on a regular basis, but I do believe in prayer, and praying for those in need.

I am with you, Aimathena. First we had the ice storm, and today I woke up to -24, with a wind chill of -39. They cancelled the school busses - but not the schools. How are the kids going to get to school???!!!
I just about had it! My husband always wanted to retire in Florida or at least stay there for the winter. If he is going to ask me today, I will argee!!!
I just feel bad for the people without proper shelter, but I also feel for the animals.

I do too Gudrun. It has always weighted heavy on my heart. I've been known to deliver blankets and food. My new years wish was for all the homeless human and animals to find shelter, warmth, food, clothing, and a means to better their lives. my wonderful son wished for the same. :-) so proud of him. I don't see the sense in sending children out in this to go to school. Silly how they allow the school bus drivers a day off but not the little children. As a child I walked to school, I can't evenimagine sending my child out in it.

It is so heart-warming to read about your son.
I used to volunteer but now I only donate because I don't have the time anymore. I teach my children also to give rather than to take:)
It is hard, however, to pass on the message. Many people have no idea that poverty and hunger exists amongst us, and not only in faraway places.
    25. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
Thank you Gudrun, I truly appreciate your kind words.
I love hearing how people help others.
I don't physically involve my son, when I drop off food and blankets.
It actually scares me at times, there are very violent people in places like tent cities. The Hubster doesn't exactly share my views, but he supports me by buying food, and he doesn't let me go alone.
I filled the back of my suburban with groceries and toiletries more times than I can remember. We've even went to McDonald's near a tent city and catered breakfast. A childhood friends husband and son became homeless, it touched way to close to home. I think maybe I inherited helping others from my moms mother, she sent money faithfully to feed children.
I've always said if I ever hit the lottery, I'm buying a homeless shelter, and having a system to help people get back on their feet.
Who knows maybe one day. :-)
Sorry for the long write up, it's a subject close to my heart.
