Great Lake passenger steamer Manitou stuck in shallow water somewhere on Lake Michigan. Have another photo previously owned by a lady crew member of the ship at the time of some of the crew making there way back to Chicago on land. Couldn't find any info about this incident on the web to know where exactly it occurred. They probably tried to keep such things hush hush back then if they could.

      Nice photo!
I found out that at one time that the Manitou would make the trip between
Chicago & Harbor Springs, Michigan in 24 hours carrying weekend passengers to cottage country. It would be ironic if she ran aground on one of the Manitou Islands.
