Quarter sawn, hand carved oak rocker. I have never seen another like it. If you know anything please contact me.

This was passed down to me from my mother who was gifted this from a friend a long time ago. The rocker was left behind in an rental house in western Michigan. My mom had to have it restored - reglued and refinished and it turned out beautiful!

Can you get a bottom view of the joinery? Only thing really visible in the photo is the seat which appears to be a three piece glue up. It is a very attractive piece.

Okay, I got some time and took some additional pictures. I hope this helps a little better.

Looks very original. No glue blocks and it appears the chair has pegged mortise and tenon joints. You don't see that today and didn't see it yester year in low quality items. This was well crafted and I would venture to say very much hand made as opposed to being an assembly line item. The seat isn't a slab seat which it should be but that isn't terrible. I will look around in my databases and catalogs. I really like this chair.

      hrjr2,
Thank you. The seat has a straight bottom, but the piece adjoined on top is a three piece and hand shaped.
